Kasaragod is aso called Cazrod and Kanhirakod. It is a municipal town and is also the administrative headquarters of the District of Kasaragod in the Indian State of Kerala. It was founded in 1966 and was the first ever municipal town within the whole district. It is also known as The Land of Seven Languages. It lies amidst the beautiful Western Ghats and is famous for its Bekal and Chandragiri Forts. The landmarks here include the Chandragiri River, Ezhimala Hill and many others. Kasaragod is located approximately 50 km southwards from Mangalore and 364 km away from Kochi. It has twelve rivers in total, lying within an estuary where the beautiful Chandragiri River flows into the Arabian Sea.
