To ensure a smooth and hassle-free shifting, make sure that you do a few things before your movers and packers arrive. We list the below:
Make a note of your valuables
You may have many valuable items at home. These may be small items like gold jewellery, gold coins, keys to your bank locker, educational certificates, passport and the like. Most people prefer carrying these with themselves to avoid the risk of losing them during the shifting process. Pre-pack such stuff that you may have in your possession and plan accordingly.
You will need an inventory list
Start off with a list of things that need to be packed and moved to the new location. This is a good way to prioritise the packing - which items are fragile and should be handled with care, which items can be put together, etc. It is also a good time to do some organizing at this stage. If you haven't used certain items for long and may not use it in future either, weed them out so that the transportation is smoother and does not unnecessarily add to your costs.
Get hold of required permissions
At times you may need special permissions from your welfare association to call in movers and packers within the society. Even when you do not need permissions, it is a good practice to let some people know of the date of movement of goods so that they are able to arrange for the parking space and carry out their routine work without any difficulties. Therefore, inform your security staff to expect the movers and packers at a certain time. If your property is such that another household will also be briefly impacted due to the packing and moving, let the people know so that they are prepared and able to cooperate with you.
Some other things to note and work out ahead of the movement is to decide on the usage of lift or freight elevator and speak to the security personnel who would be on duty on the day of shifting. This should be done at both locations -- where you move out of and where you are moving into.
