Botad is a leading city cum district headquarters to the Botad District in Gujarat. It is roughly 92 km away from Bhavnagar and 133 km away from Ahmedabad via road. The district has been carved out of Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad and was once part of the Bhavnagar District. It is named after Damodar Botadkar. It is a municipality covering a total area of 10.36 square kilometres with a population estimated at 130,302 people in 2011. Hindi and Gujarati are the languages spoken here. The coordinates of Botad are 22.1723° N, 71.6636° E. Major tourist landmarks in the area include the Clock Tower, Tajiyo, Shree Swaminarayna Mandir and the Botad Lake.
