Berhampur, also known as Brahmapur, is named after Lord Brahmeswara. The city lies on the eastern coastline of the Ganjam district, Odisha. It is 9 miles (14 km) from the Bay of Bengal. The town is 25 km away from the Rushikulya river & several other streams such as Sapua and Hati flow through it.
