The District of Lahaul and Spiti is located in Himachal Pradesh. There are two demarcated districts of Spiti and Lahaul here, and the administrative hub is Kyelang at Lahaul. The district was created in 1960 and is linked via the Rohtang Pass to Manali. The entrance to the Spiti Valley is through the Kunzum Pass. The zone is 21 km away from the Chandra Tal region while Spiti concludes 24 km away from Tabo at the Sumdo region where the road goes towards Kinnaur and links up to the National Highway 5. The total area of the district is 13,833 square kilometers, with the population estimated at 31,564 people, as of the year 2011. The coordinates of Lahaul and Spiti are 32.6192° N, 77.3784° E.
