Kangpokpi is the headquarters to the Kangpokpi District and also the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council within Manipur State. This area is home to several people from the Thadou-Kuki, Nepali, and Thangal Naga communities. The area lies at an elevation of 992 meters and the population in 2011 stood at 7,476 people. The languages spoken here include Thadou, Nepali, Thangal Naga, and others. The coordinates of Kangpokpi are 25°8′56″N 93°58′14″E.
