Girinagar was earlier called Writer’s Colony and is a major residential zone in Southwestern Bangalore. It lies in close proximity to Mysore Road. This locality lies near Deepanjali Nagar and Banashankari among other residential zones. It lies in the Bangalore Urban District of Bangalore City in the Indian State of Karnataka. Languages like Kannada and English are spoken here while the area lies at an elevation of 865 metres. The coordinates are 12.9421° N, 77.5464° E. The area got its name from the ex-Indian President, V.V. Giri. It is a ward in the BBMP and the number is 162. It comes under the Bengaluru South zone of the corporation.
