Hisar is a well-known municipal corporation, city, and the administrative headquarters for the Hisar District in Haryana. It is located 161.2 km away from New Delhi. The city was established in 1354 AD with the name Hisar-e-Firoza. The city was officially integrated by 1833 and is governed by the Municipal Corporation of Hisar. The population of the city stood at 301,249 people as of the year 2011 while the main languages spoken here include English, Hindi, Rajasthani, Bagri, and Punjabi among others. The city was integrated into Punjab and then Haryana in 1966 post Independence. The coordinates of Hisar are 29°09′N 75°42′E.
