In the heart of the historic center of Ancona, next to the theater of the Muses, is Palazzo Jona. Former Palazzo Millo, later Bourbon del Monte and home to the offices of the Banca Nazionale Toscana. Noble apartment of 250sqm with two balconies, one on Via Antonio Gramsci, the other on Corso Giuseppe Mazzini. From both excellent views of Piazza della Repubblica and the port. The palace was rebuilt in late Baroque style in the eighteenth century. The project was initially attributed to Luigi Vanvitelli (1700 - 1773), in the city for the construction of the Mole Vanvitelliana and the renovation of Palazzo Ferretti and the adjacent church. However, there are divergent thoughts, including the attribution to Vanvitelli of the only characteristic corner balcony overlooking the square and the church, while the design of the palace would be the work of Carlo Marchionni (1702 - 1786), director of port works and author of the reconstruction project of the Church of San Domenico, and Francesco Maria Ciaraffoni (1720 - 1802), who completely rebuilt the Church of the Blessed Sacrament a few steps away. Palazzo Jona was completely renovated in the early 2000s. The noble apartment of about 250sqm in total is located on the 3rd floor with elevator. It has undergone a conservative restoration that has maintained the interior works of Giuseppe Pallavicini (1736 - 1812), also in the past attributed to Vanvitelli. The entire apartment is full of works of art: frescoes, ceilings, paintings, doors decorated with frames and other marble details.
