Have a long weekend in hand and looking for travel options? Well, if you have still not covered Gujarat, we bring you some of the places that you can definitely consider traveling to. Rann of Kutch

Located in the Kutch district, the Great Rann of Kutch is a salt marshland and is a part of the Thar Desert.  Made of massive salt deposits, the place is divided into two parts- The Great Rann of Kutch and the Little Rann of Kutch.  As it is one of the hottest places in India, the best time to visit this place is from November to February.

To encourage tourism in this place, the government of Gujarat organises the Rann Utsav festival that is from November to February every year near Dhordo village. People can enjoy the camel show and also check out the various handicraft stalls and cuisines made by the locals and experience staying in tents in the desert. Many movies including Refugee, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Lagaan, Midnight’s Children etc. have been shot here.

How to reach?

By air: The nearest airport is the Kandla Airport in Kutch that is around 100 km from the white desert.

By train: The nearest railway station is the Bhachau Railway Station in Bhachau town that is 80 km from Kutch.

 

Ahmedabad

Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati

Once done with the Rann of Kutch, you can head to the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram located in Ahmedabad that is around 400 km from here. If you travel by road, it will take close to seven hours.

Narendra Modi Stadium (Motera)

The world’s largest international cricket stadium- The Narendra Modi Stadium is located in Motera, Ahmedabad.

Kevadia 

Statue of Unity

From Ahmedabad, a 3.5 hour road trip will take you to Kevadia where you can see the Statue of Unity– the Statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, which is also the tallest statue in the world. The distance between Ahmedabad and Kevadia is around 208 km.

The Statue of Unity For the visit to the Statue of Unity, you can book tickets from the https://www.soutickets.in/ . You can visit between 8 AM and 6 PM. The Statue of Unity is closed on Mondays. In addition to visiting the State of Unity viewing gallery, you can also check out things like the Narmada Maha Aarti, Jungle Safari, Ekta Cruise and Ekta Dinner Cruise, Sarovar Dam boat ride, Cactus and Butterfly Garden.

From here, you may plan your return by going to Vadodara Airport which is around two hours or you may take a train from the Ekta Nagar Railway Station.
