Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is home to the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST), a municipal organisation that provides electricity and transportation services. Bombay Tramway Company Limited was the initial name of the organisation when it was founded in 1873. BEST started running motor buses in 1926.
The company was named “Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST)” in 1995, along with Mumbai. It presently functions as a separate entity beneath the Municipal Corporation. One of India’s largest bus fleets is run by BEST. The bus transportation service expands its operations beyond the city’s boundaries into nearby urban regions and serves the whole city. It runs a boat service in the northern parts of the town in addition to buses.
