Indore Metro: Cost and completion date

The Indore Metro project is anticipated to incur a budget exceeding Rs 12,000 Crore, with an estimated cost of Rs 182 Crore per kilometre (km), resulting in a cumulative expense of Rs 15,000 Crore. In a significant development, the central government’s cabinet granted approval for Phase-I of Line 3 of the Indore Metro, spanning a length of 33.53 km. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this phase was formulated in 2018. Commencing in February 2019, the construction of the metro route is currently underway, with the anticipated completion scheduled for 2026.

 

Indore Metro: Route details

The Indore Metro route envisions a comprehensive network covering 100–107 km, featuring overlapping and branching lines. The final metro route plan includes four distinct lines, with construction currently underway on the Line-3, while the remaining corridors are in the planning phase. The four planned corridor lines are outlined as follows:

 

Indore Metro Line 3 (Yellow Line)

The Indore Metro is currently constructing Line 3, also known as the Yellow Line. This line, spanning 33.53 km, forms a circular route around the city and connects key locations, such as Railway Station, Palasia, Rajwada, Bhawarsala, and Airport. The corridor includes a total of 30 stations, with six underground stations from Kothari market to the airport, while the remaining 24 stations will be above ground.
