A Jan Dhan Yojana account may be established at a public sector bank, a private sector bank, or a post office. You may also convert any other bank account (savings) into a Jan Dhan Yojana account. Any Indian citizen above the age of 10 years may create a Jan Dhan account. This initiative enables the country’s residents to become more linked to the financial system.

Life Insurance Coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Consumers, who create this account get insurance coverage of Rs 1.30 lakh under this scheme. The candidate receives a sum of Rs 100,000 upon their death. Additionally, this programme includes Rs 30,000 in general insurance.  The account holder is covered up to  Rs 30,000 under this standard insurance policy in the event of an accident.

The recipient is eligible to get the benefit of life insurance only if they created their first account under the Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana between August 15, 2014, and January 26, 2015.

New updates to Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, a new calling feature is being made accessible. Account-holders may get information about their accounts using this calling feature. This service will be toll-free, and distinct numbers will be provided for each state in the nation.

Now, the account section may resolve any issue from the comfort of their own home by reaching this toll-free number. They will not be required to visit a bank.

Number of Jan Dhan Yojana accounts that have been opened so far

More than 40 million bank accounts had already been created by the Jan Dhan Yojana in 2021, and newer accounts have been made in 2022. So far, this programme has benefited 40,05 million people, and nearly Rs 1.30 lakh crore has been put into their bank accounts. The government has enhanced the accident insurance from one lakh rupees to two lakh rupees for account holders under this plan in light of its performance.

If you don’t want to use the site to check your Jan Dhan account balance, you may alternatively check it by missed call. You may contact 8004253800 or 1800112211 if you have a Jan Dhan account with State Bank of India. The only exception is that you must make a missed call from the same phone number linked to your account.
