Victoria Hospital is a pre-Independence medical institution and one of the oldest medical institutions of India, established in 1897 by the then queen of Mysore, her highness Kempananjammani Avaru, in commemoration of the 60-year reign of Queen Victoria. Today, the hospital is the second largest hospital in India and accommodates over 1,000 patients at any given time. The Victoria Hospital is a teaching hospital and affiliated to the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, one of the premier medical colleges of India. 

The hospital specialises in several medical disciplines which include orthopaedics, general medicine, surgery, dermatology, psychiatry, physiotherapy and several super specialities such as plastic Surgery, surgical and medical gastroenterology, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology and Urology
