All about Voter ID Form 6

The Indian voter ID card is an identification document issued by the Election Commission of India to adults residing in India reaching the age of 18 (and above), mainly used as proof of identity for Indian citizens when voting in a city, or state and national elections. Apart from election purposes, it could also be required to be shown as a basic identity proof for various purposes such as creating a bank account, affidavit of your Aadhar card and so on.

 

What is the NVSP Form 6?

The National Voter Service Portal (NVSP), a portal developed by ECI, now provides an online means for candidates to apply for a voter ID card easily. You can complete and submit NVSP Form 6 to claim your voter card.

National Voter Service Portal was launched by the Election Commission of India on January 25th, 2015 under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Abdul Kalam. NVSP Form 6 has been launched to provide a one-stop service for voters in India.

Who may submit an NVSP Form 6?

When is the Form-6 submittable?

You can submit the application at any time of the year. It may be filed during the electoral roll revision after the constituency’s electoral roll has been officially published. The application must be turned in prior to the cutoff date for claims and objections. The above-mentioned time range receives the necessary exposure when the modification programme is introduced. The application must be submitted in a single copy during the revision programme. During the time period that we refer to as the non-revision period, applications must be submitted in duplicate.

How do I complete the NVSP Form 6?

1.Request 

Requests should be sent to the electoral registration officer of the constituency in which you wish to register. The name of the constituency must be mentioned in the free space provided for this purpose.

2.Name

Names must appear on the list of voters and must provide a Voter Photo Identification Card (EPIC). Full name must be written in the first box, and last name must be written in the second box. If you don’t have the first name, just write the last name. Caste should not be mentioned except when the caste name is used as part of the voter’s first or last name. Honorary names like Shri, Smt. Kumari, Khan, Begum, Pandit, etc., should not be mentioned. Please mention your name in English and the official state language, if possible.

Write your full gender in the space provided, for example. ‘Women’. Applicants can indicate their gender as “Other” when they do not want to be described as “Male” or “Female”.

5. State of residence

Please mention the place name like village/town, district, state.

6. Care/Of

In case the applicant is not married, the name of the parent must be mentioned. If the candidate is married, the name of the spouse must be stated. The options in the column that do not apply should be crossed out.

7. Place of permanent residence

8. Details of family members registered in the voter list. 

Please give names and other details of immediate family members i.e. Father/Mother/Brother /Sister/Spouses residing at the same address. The names of any relatives other than those above should not be mentioned.
