Dev Anand's Juhu bungalow to be replaced by a 22-storey tower

September 20, 2023: Late veteran actor Dev Anand’s Juhu bungalow has been sold to a real estate company for an estimated sum of around Rs 350-400 crore, according to a Hindustan Times report.

As per the media report, the actor told a media outlet that he had built the house in 1950. The locality during this time was a village. The yesteryear superstar lived with his wife Kalpana Kartik, son Suniel Anand and daughter Devina Anand in this Mumbai house for nearly four decades. The actor’s bungalow, which has now been acquired by the real estate firm, will be demolished and a 22-storey tower will be constructed in its place. Media reports mention that Dev Anand’s children have made the decision to sell the property as there was no one to take care of it. Suniel Anand lives in the United States of America, while his sister Devina is in Ooty and resides with their mother.

Reports further suggest that the actor’s other properties in Panvel, Maharashtra, have also been sold and the proceeds from the sale would be divided among the actor’s family members.

Juhu is a plush neighbourhood located on the western side of Mumbai along the Arabian Sea. Several Bollywood celebrities reside in Juhu, including Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Kajol and Ajay Devgn and many others.

Dev Anand was a legendary Bollywood actor, writer, director and producer with a career spanning six decades.
