June 5, 2023: The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has awarded the contract for operation and maintenance of the Aqua Line or the Mumbai Metro Line 3 to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The contract was awarded after an international competitive bidding process in which DMRC emerged as the lowest successful bidder.
The contract is awarded for 10 years. Under this, the DMRC will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mumbai Metro 3 Line including management of the Operation Control Centre (OCC), the Depot Control Centre (DCC), stations, running of trains, maintaining the trains and all the metro systems infrastructure and ensuring passenger safety.
“We are happy to associate with DMRC for operation and maintenance of Mumbai’s first underground Metro line. Operation and Maintenance is crucial component for any metro,” said Ashwini Bhide, managing director, MMRC.
MMRC will be responsible for roles of revenue management, multimodal integration, business and brand management, public relations, legal compliances, non-fare box revenue generation, servicing debt, payments and coordination with regulatory boards for utilities, etc.
