June 2, 2023: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced a Whatsapp-based ticketing service. Commuters using the Airport Express Metro line can now use the Whatsapp chatbot facility to buy tickets. Commuters will receive a QR code-based ticket on the application in the new ticketing system.
How to use Whatsapp-based ticketing service on Airport Express Metro line?
- Save the DMRC’s official WhatsApp number, 9650855800, on your phone’s contact list.
- Type ‘Hello’ and send. An auto-generated reply will appear, asking the user to select one of the preferred language options for chat – Hindi or English.
- In the next step, choose one of the three options – Buy Ticket, Last Journey Tickets and Retrieve Tickets.
- Click on ‘Buy Ticket’ option.
- Choose from the six Airport Express Line metro stations.
- In the next step, users must select the way they want to travel and proceed to pay the charges.
Points to note when using Whatsapp-based ticketing on Airport Express Metro Line:
- There will be nominal charges for transactions done through credit or debit cards.
- No convenience fee is applicable for UPI-based transactions.
- A maximum of six QR code-based tickets can be generated for each passenger for single and group journeys. The metro tickets will be valid till the end of the business day.
- Once an entry is done, passengers must exit from the destination station within 65 minutes. For exit at the origin station, they must leave within 30 minutes from the time of their entry.
- Commuters are not allowed to cancel their metro tickets in this system.
In May 2023, DMRC introduced a QR code-based paper ticket on all its lines. It is also planning to launch mobile-based QR tickets to ensure seamless metro travel for commuters.
