The Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad expressway, also known as the FNG expressway, is a 56-km, under-construction expressway planned to boost road connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). FNG Expressway: Construction details
The Haryana government prepared a draft for constructing the FNG expressway. Once approved, the government will start the DPR and tender process. According to the master plan, the expressway will begin from Noida. About 70% of the construction work in Noida has been completed by the Noida Authority.
The FNG expressway, in construction since 2018, has been designed by IIT Roorkee. Around 250 acres of land would be acquired for the expressway project in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Features
- Lanes: The FNG expressway has been initially planned to have six lanes. It has been equipped to have eight additional lane expansion to accommodate increased traffic flow.
- Speed limit: The expressway will have a high speed limit, allowing faster commuting. The minimum speed limit will be around 80 kmph. The specific speed limits in certain areas will be decided after the completion of the project.
- Flyovers and interchanges: There are multi-level flyovers and interchanges to facilitate smooth connectivity and reduce traffic congestion.
- Media and shoulders: A wide median will separate the expressway, allowing smooth traffic flow. Moreover, paved shoulders will be constructed on both sides of the median.
- Safety features: The expressway has been constructed with safety features such as guardrails, emergency call boxes, signages, etc. to assist drivers along the route.
- Drainage system: The expressway will have a proper drainage system to effectively manage rainwater flow and prevent waterlogging.
FNG Expressway route details
The Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad expressway is part of National Expressway 2 or the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
The 56-km FNG expressway will cover 28.1 km in Faridabad, 8 km in Noida and 20 km in Greater Noida. The route will start from Greater Faridabad and enter Lalpur village. A 700-meter bridge will link Noida and Faridabad. A 5.6-km elevated road will be constructed from Noida, Sectors 98 and 143. In addition, there will be a service road on the route.
Furthermore, there are plans to link the FNG expressway with the upcoming Delhi-Dehradun expressway developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Noida
The route will link Delhi Meerut Expressway or National Expressway 3, near Rahul Vihar, via Sectors 121, 122, 140 and 150 in Noida to Sector 168 (near Chhaproli Khadar) and will intersect with the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, bridging over Yamuna and Chak Mangroli.
Ghaziabad
It will connect National Highway 34 (near Hindan Vihar and Arya Nagar) to Delhi-Meerut Expressway or National Expressway 3 (near Rahul Vihar).
Faridabad
The route will connect the Chak Mangroli bridge, along the DFC corridor, to Shahpur, where it will join the Faridabad Bypass Expressway (part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project, connecting the FNG Expressway to the Sohna-Gurgaon-Sohna Elevated Corridor).
How will the FNG expressway benefit commuters?
The upcoming FNG expressway will boost connectivity across the route, especially in Noida Sector 120, Sector 121, Sector 122, Sector 140 and Sector 150. It will provide an alternative route from Faridabad to Ghaziabad or Noida without the need to enter Delhi, thus reducing traffic congestion. The travel time will significantly reduce to around 30 minutes. - Chilla-Okhla Expressway: It will also have a link from the DND Flywa along the Shahdra Drain, finally connecting with the Okhla Bird Sanctuary (where the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Bundh Expressway starts).
- Noida-Greater Noida Bundh Expressway: The route will start near Sector 94 Noida on the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Along the way near Sector 160, Gulavali will interchange with Gulavali-LG Chowk road and end near Sector 168 at FNG Expressway.

According to media reports, work on the FNG expressway that is pending to be completed includes:
- An elevated section from Sector 88 to 143 in Noida.
- Underpass construction on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway.
