Govt sanctions Rs 1,244.43 cr to upgrade NH-205 in Himachal

February 27, 2024: The government will spend Rs 1,244.43 crore to upgrade the National Highway- 205 in Himachal Pradesh. Under the plan, the existing road from Kalar Bala village to Nauni Chowk on the highway in Solan and Bilaspur districts of Himachal Pradesh will be turned into 4-lane roads with painted shoulders.

In a post on microblogging site X today, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the road project would provide better connectivity to Shimla, Kangra, Dharamshala and Mandi. The project is also likely to improve connectivity with Darlaghat and AIIMS.

The NH-205 passes through the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, starting at Kharar near Chandigarh. It passes through Ropar and Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab and Swarghat, Namhol, Darlaghat in Himachal Pradesh before terminating near Shimla.
