How to hang plates on wall?
Create paper template for plates
Lay the plates on a large kraft paper placed on the floor. Trace around each plate and cut it. Now, arrange these templates based on the design you prefer.
Tape the plates on the wall
In the next step, tape each paper template to the wall using painter’s tape. With the help of measuring tape and a level, adjust the placement of plates that need to set in a straight line.
Clean the plates
The back of each plate should be clean and smooth. Wipe off any dust, dirt, or lint. Make sure to clean each plate using a damp cloth and let them dry. When using adhesive discs to hang plates on the wall, refer to the manufacturer’s directions. The discs should suit the type of plates used – copper, porcelain, etc.
Place plate hangers or adhesive discs
You can choose metal plate hangers and adhesive discs to hang plates on wall based on size and material.
Spring-style hangers
Plate hangers with plastic grippers are an excellent choice to ensure easy removal or rearrangement of plates. These hangers slip over plates easily and hold the plates without resulting in scratches. Turn the plates upside down and trace around each plate on a sheet of paper. Cut out the plate templates and arrange into the desired pattern. Tape them to the wall using painter’s tape.
Attach the spring-style hangers to each plate and put the plate on a flat surface. Then, gently bend the back of the hanger to help the plate stay flush against the wall and prevent it from leaning. Put nails and hooks on the wall at the desired spot and hang the plates.
Adhesive discs
With adhesive discs, the plates appear to be suspended without any support. Start by placing the plates on a large sheet of kraft paper on the floor or table. Trace out each plate. Adhesive discs have glue that should be activated by adding a little water. Stick them at the back of each plate. Press firmly and let the disc sit for a few hours to dry. Hang the plates on the wall while removing the paper templates.
DIY method to hang plates on wall
Choose medium-sized safety pins and place them upside down on a piece of felt (soft cloth). Cut out the piece so that it overlaps the pin by half an inch on each side. Add a little hot glue along the back rim of the plate and turn the safety pin upside down. Place the lower half inch of the pin in the glue, with the round part facing the top of the plate.
Add hot glue in the lower half inch of the pin, reaching up to the plate. After the glue dries, pull the safety pin to check. Now, drill a nail in the wall and place the pin’s round circle. Re-glue the plates when necessary or go for strong super glue if you are planning to permanently attach the plates.
