Amid a drop in revenue collection, the Telangana government planned to hike the stamp duty on property in 2021, considering that there has been no increase in the rate since April 1, 2013. However, the state has decided to maintain a status quo on the rates, so far, keeping in view the market conditions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Unlike most cities, where the rates are lower if the property title is being transferred in the name of a woman or under joint ownership where a woman is also a party, the stamp duty rates are uniform for men and women in Telangana. Consequently, women home buyers in Hyderabad pay as much stamp duty (4% of the property value, to be specific) as their male counterparts.
Property registration charges in Hyderabad
Unlike most states that charge 1% of the deal value as the registration charge, buyers have to pay only 0.5% of the value, in Hyderabad. That way, Hyderabad offers the most affordable property registration rates to buyers.

Transfer charge on property purchase in Hyderabad
Apart from stamp duty and registration charges, all buyers also have to pay 1.5% of the property value as the transfer charge, during property registration in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad stamp duty and registration charge calculation example
Suppose Brinda bought a property worth Rs 50 lakhs in Hyderabad. She will have to pay 4% of the Rs 50 lakhs as the stamp duty and another 0.5% of the property value as registration charge. She will also pay 1.5% of the property value as the transfer charge.
So, Brinda’s total liability will be:
Stamp duty = Rs 2 lakhs
Registration charge = Rs 25,000
Transfer charge = Rs 75,000
Total outgo = Rs 3 lakhs

What documents are required for property registration in Hyderabad?
