Kalaburagi Airport: Construction details

The Kalaburagi Airport is constructed on an area of 742 acre.  The runway of this airport is 3175 x 45 sqm. The terminal building occupies 2,173 sqm. 

While it was planned to be constructed with the Karnataka government using the Public Private Partnership (PPP model), the construction of the Kalaburagi Airport was later taken up by a consortium of Maytas Infra, NCC Infrastructure Holdings, VIE India Project Development and Holding under Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. However, due to financial problems, this project fell flat. 

Finally, the Kalaburagi Airport was constructed and completed by the Karnataka government’s PWD department. The construction was completed in August 2019.
