What to do if a project is not MahaRERA registered?

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), under Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 has made it mandatory for all projects to be MahaRERA registered. 

On July 24, 2017, MahaRERA laid down steps for handling information about the projects that ought to be registered but have not registered. If any real estate project is not RERA registered, it can be highlighted to MahaRERA by way of complaints in two ways.

Once done, you will be given a SI number through which you can check the status of the complaint. Using this number, in case of any need for detail, you may be contacted.

In case the person who complains wants a hearing with the MahaRERA authority, then he has to fill the above form and pay a fee of Rs 5,000 to the regulatory authority. A technical officer will schedule the hearing with appropriate authority. The Notice of Hearing will be sent on the registered email id of the informant and respondent.

After the hearing, the ruling of the MahaRERA will be uploaded on the website and the decision would be updated on the informant’s dashboard as well as on the MahaRERA website for public.
