June 6, 2023: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) launched a mobile application on June 5,2023 that will enable property owners in the city to geo-tag their properties. Inaugurated by Municipal Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, the MCD app aims to bring a more transparent and responsive property tax regime.
Geo-tagging of properties by owners will provide location-wise identification of individual properties and will facilitate better provisioning of service delivery to the citizens by the MCD, the authority said in a statement.
Geo-tagging of properties is a process of assigning unique coordinates — latitude and longitude — to any property on a Geographic Information System (GIS) map by choosing the current location against any Unique Property Identification Code(UPIC), allowing the properties’ location to get identified against the unique position.
The authority has asked property owners to complete the process of geo-tagging of their properties as soon as possible.
Citizens can download the mobile app from Google Play Store on an android phone or by visiting the website of the MCD https://mcdonline.nic.in/portal. The facility will be available in the next two weeks for the iOS platform.
