Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai Bullet Train project: Land and aerial surveys underway

The Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai Bullet Train project is picking up pace as land surveys are underway. The aerial survey is expected to start soon, according to media reports. A Hyderabad-based firm will conduct the satellite and land surveys. Once the surveys are completed, the firm will draft a detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed high-speed-rail-corridor. So far, the land survey from Chennai to Kolar has been completed.

The proposed bullet train corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Mysore and Chennai to around one hour and 10 minutes.

 

According to media reports, NHSRCL has already awarded contracts for the preparation of General Alignment Drawings, surveying, identification of overhead, overground, and underground utilities, and identification of power sourcing options for substations.

The Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore high-speed rail corridor will cover a distance of 435 km connecting the three cities. It will comprise nine stations in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Some years ago, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) set the groundwork for the project by conducting an analytical ridership research.
