Noida, Greater Noida Authority to cancel allotment of unused plots

UP govt launches new scheme to sell vacant plots under data centre project

January 11, 2024: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government issued a directive to the Noida Authority and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to annul the allocations of industrial, institutional and IT plots that have remained unutilized for an extended period in their respective regions. Officials clarified that only allottees who obtained the plots for trade-off purposes and deliberately refrained from initiating any development would face repercussions. The decision was made during a meeting on January 8, 2024, chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) of the UP government.

Additionally, the government mandated the authorities to conduct a thorough survey of such vacant land parcels within their jurisdictions to determine the number of plots allocated to developers but not yet utilized. Action should be taken to revoke the allotment of such plots, thereby creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs. This initiative is geared towards fostering investment in the Greater Noida region.

Officials disclosed that approximately 2,700 industrial, 650 institutional and 300 IT/ITES plots have been allocated in the area. Although the precise count of unused plots will be determined after the survey, sources suggest there could be around 300 such plots under the Greater Noida Authority. The cancellation of allotments will specifically target plots where no construction has commenced despite the expiration of specified time limits, typically spanning a decade. Cases involving partial construction completion will be evaluated individually. After the survey, comprehensive data on the year-wise status of all plots will be available, enabling ongoing monitoring.
