Non-resident Indians (NRIs) are helping to put India’s real estate market back on track for a recovery, according to organisers of the 3rd PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (India).
The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (India) is part of the region’s industry leading PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards programme and will be held amid renewed buyer interest in the residential market from the Indian diaspora. Organised by PropertyGuru (NYSE: PGRU), Southeast Asia’s leading proptech company, the Awards will be presented for the first time in India at an exclusive gala dinner and ceremony in October 2022. The black-tie event is supported by official portal partner Housing.com and media partner The Hindu.
- Black-tie gala dinner and awards presentation will be held for the first time in India in October 2022.
- Diverse honours to recognise real estate portfolios, as well as achievements in property development and design.
- Entries and nominations are open until 2 September.
Attracted by a soft rupee and low interest rates, NRIs invested USD 13.1 billion in Indian real estate last year, according to research by PropertyGuru Property Report, the official magazine of the Awards.
Such a surge in interest from Indian expatriates worldwide has helped to buffer the impact of the pandemic on the national property sector. Demand from NRI buyers has also fuelled interest in luxury Indian properties that are comparable to homes in developed economies.
Expats from India account for about 6.5% of the world’s 272 million migrants. Barring economic disruption, the Indian housing market will become a trillion-dollar industry by 2030.
With end-users driving demand, new residential supply in India will continue to improve in quality in the coming years. The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (India) programme will be celebrating such developments and other key segments of the Indian real estate industry across a variety of award categories.
