PM Modi to lay foundation stone for metro project in Old Gurgaon

February 13, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new metro corridor to Old Gurgaon on February 16, 2024, according to media reports. The Gurgaon Metro extension project received approval from the Union Cabinet on June 7, 2023. The metro line will link Huda City Centre (Millenium City Centre) to Cyber City in Old Gurgaon. 

The Millenium City Centre to Cyber City Metro Corridor, connecting new Gurgaon with old Gurgaon, will span a total length of 28.5 kilometre and comprise 27 stations. The project is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,452.72 crore. The upcoming metro route will also be connected with the Dwarka Expressway through a station near Sector 101. The project will be implemented by Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) in a 28.5-km loop.

As cited in an Economic Times report, Deputy Commissioner Gurgaon, Nishant Kumar Yadav, has said that the Haryana Government has formed the Haryana Metro Rail Corporation (HMRC) on the lines of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
