Ranjana and Arun Auditto have lived in the Goldcroft bungalow for several decades, and the house itself is over a 100 years old! Tucked away in Walkeshwar, South Mumbai, it is a rare gem of an architectural era gone by.
Made mainly with stone, wood and metal, the house is built in a typically British fashion. The décor and stories it holds inside, are even more beautiful!
The family is comprised of Ranjana, Arun, their 3 children – one son and two daughters, and their 2-year old dog Lara.
With stain glass windows, interiors decorated with art and navy related paraphernalia, and beautiful mosaic flooring, Goldcroft is a reminder of an era gone by
Ranjana and Arun Auditto have lived in this house ever since they got married. It originally belonged to Ranjana’s mother, who’d lived here all her life.
Ranjana and Arun met at the Navy Club in Colaba and formed a close friendship while playing badminton! Ranjana was 21 at the time. They got married shortly afterwards. Ranjana worked as a teacher, and still occasionally gives home tuitions, and Arun is a retired rear admiral.
Arun is Bengali Christian, while Ranjana is Punjabi. While they have plenty of opportunity to celebrate throughout the year, Christmas is when the house truly comes alive!
The spacious Goldcroft house boasts of 8 bedrooms, which is such a rarity in Mumbai today!
One of the best parts of the house is the portico out front that overlooks the Arabian Sea.
