Tulip Garden Srinagar: How to reach?

By air: The Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport is the closest airport to Srinagar, which has connectivity to cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Depending on traffic, the trip takes 30 to 40 minutes from the airport to the garden, located around 15 km.

By rail: The Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the closest railway hub to Srinagar. The trip from Jammu to Srinagar takes about seven to eight hours by car.

By road: Major cities in India are easily accessible by road from Srinagar. The trip from Srinagar to Jammu on the National Highway 1 (NH-1) takes about seven to eight hours. The Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) runs bus services between Jammu and Srinagar. There are also shared and private taxis available for hire.

The Tulip Garden was established in 2007 was created to promote valley tourism and showcase Kashmir’s natural beauty to the world. The garden overlooks the Dal Lake and is situated at the base of the Zabarwan Mountains. The garden offers breathtaking views with the distant snow-capped mountains and the still waters of the lake in the foreground.

The Tulip Garden is usually open for visitors during the last week of March to the first week of April. The tulips are in full bloom at this time. Thousands of tulips of various sorts and colours cover the entire garden.

In addition to tulips, other flowering species such as daffodils, hyacinths and ranunculus are also found in the garden. A variety of tulip varieties can be seen in several areas of the garden. More than 70 different types of tulips, from the conventional red and yellow tulips to the unusual black tulips, grow in this garden. The garden is crisscrossed by a number of walking routes and includes a number of other attractions. The garden centre features a small lake and seating spots for visitors. There is an information centre inside the garden for anybody who wants to learn more about the tulips and the landscape. The Tulip Garden has developed into a crucial component of Kashmir’s social and cultural fabric over time.
