What are the different types of mops available?

Choosing the right mop is important when you are looking at cleaning surfaces. Microfiber mops

Microfiber mops can be used both for dry and wet cleaning. They are light weight mops making them easy and less tiring to use. Microfiber mops are available in various sizes, from small handheld to large mop heads for wide coverage. You can clean floors, having hardwood, tile, laminate, vinyl etc., with microfiber mops. The microfiber material is designed to withstand repeated use and washing without losing its effectiveness. However, the lifespan of a microfiber mop depends on the material’s quality and how well it is maintained.

Dry microfiber mops

These are usually designed having a flat rectangular, or square head that is attached to a handle. The mop head is made of microfiber fabric. This head can be a single pad or divided into multiple strips. You also get dry microfiber mops with swivel heads that allow them to easily reach inside any space.

 

 

Wet microfiber mops

These can be used for damp or wet cleaning purpose. The absorbent and scrubbing capabilities of microfiber material is effectively used to clean various floor surfaces. The wet microfiber mops consist of a mop head made of microfiber fabric that can be a single pad or divided into strips.

 

 

Spin mop

A spin mop features a built-in wringer mechanism that allows you to control the level of moisture on the mop head. Spin mops have a mop head attached to a handle, a bucket with a built-in spinner and a foot pedal or lever for operating the spinner. The mop head is often made of microfiber material.

After dipping the mop head into the cleaning solution or water in a bucket, you place it into the spinner and use the foot pedal or lever to activate the spinning action. The spinning motion helps to remove excess of water from the mop head, allowing you to control the moisture level for optimal cleaning.

The spinning action helps to remove dirt and excess water from the mop head, preventing streaks and leaving the floors relatively dry.

 

 

Spray mop

A spray mop has an integrated mechanism for dispensing cleaning solution directly onto the floor. A spray mop offers an efficient way to clean floors and is useful for spot cleaning or small areas.

Spray mops consist of a mop head, a handle with an integrated refillable water tank or cleaning solution compartment and a trigger or button for spraying liquid onto the floor. The mop head is often made of microfiber material, known for its effective cleaning and absorbency.

 

 

Cordless dry wet vacuum mop

A dry-wet vacuum mop combines the functionalities of a vacuum cleaner and a mop. It is designed to handle both wet and dry-cleaning tasks without a power cord. They come with a rechargeable battery that powers the vacuum and mop functions. Cordless dry wet vacuum mop come with various attachments and features that allow you to vacuum up dry debris and mop or scrub hard floors using water or cleaning solutions.

 

 

Sponge mops

Sponge mops are ideal for tiled, or linoleum floors. With a sponge head, they can absorb liquids. This can be wrung out to control the moisture level. Note, these may not be effective for cleaning tough stains.

 

 

Steam mops

Steam mops use steam to sanitise and clean floors. These are ideal for households with children or pets, as there is no need for harsh chemicals. While they are effective on hard floors, they may not be suitable for delicate surface.

 

 

Robot cleaner

Robot cleaners are designed to operate using built-in sensors and algorithms without direct human intervention. They can move around furniture, detect obstacles, and adjust their cleaning patterns to efficiently cover the entire area.
