UPRERA to use artificial intelligence for faster complaint disposal

All about Andhra Pradesh RERA

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) plans to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in its quasi-judicial processes in e-Courts, to simplify complaint filing for consumers, according to media reports. Officials said that using AI and machine learning (ML) would help in complaint filing, case filtering and prioritisation, notification and tracking of cases.

According to officials, the regulatory authority has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to invite applications from experts and agencies interested in developing the project.

Indian consulting or information technology firms are seeking to conceptualise, develop and implement an Intelligent Quasi-Judicial Decision-Making System. The objective is for the UP RERA to function as a smart court, addressing issues in the sector.

Rajive Kumar, the chairman of the UP RERA, said the authority aims to utilise new technologies such as AI, ML and natural language processing (NLP) to ensure that the UP RERA operates as a smart court. With AI, the authority will work efficiently and seamlessly, even for complex complaints or other tasks. It would assist in analysing big data, quick machine learning, neural networks, pattern recognition, self-learning, predictive analytics, data science and other areas, he added.

According to the UP RERA, the COVID-19 pandemic has led homebuyers to file complaints digitally, as e-courts have been the norm for around three years. Details of the necessary qualifications, submission requirements, objectives, scope of work and evaluation criteria for the project are available on the UP RERA website. The deadline for expressions of interest is May 26, 2023. Consultants may submit their proposals using an online form provided on the official portal. Once companies submit their applications, the UP RERA will follow the rules, request presentations and select the one that meets the set norms, officials said.

The Uttar Pradesh RERA Rules were notified in 201, and the state’s official RERA website was launched on July 26, 2017. The website enables homebuyers to file their complaints online at a fee of Rs 1,000 and expect a resolution within 60 days. During the pandemic, virtual courts were organised for complainants.
