Yeida approves detailed project report of Heritage City

As per the DPR, the project is estimated to cost Rs 6,000 crore.

March 22, 2024: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on March 21, 2024, announced its approval of the detailed project report (DPR) for the Heritage City project, slated to occupy 2,965.2 acre of land along the Yamuna Expressway. The revised feasibility report and DPR, which now include new villages, were submitted to the state government in February. Upon committee clearance, a request for proposal (RFP) will be drafted to invite bids from contractors for project completion. Following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections in June, a global tender will be issued to select the developer.

Yeida officials outlined that the Heritage City will stretch from the 101-kilometre milestone of the Yamuna Expressway to the Banke Bihari temple, with a 6.9-kilometre long and 100-metre wide expressway planned to connect the two points. As per the DPR, the project is estimated to cost Rs 6,000 crore and will feature various amenities, including a 46-acre parking zone, a 42-acre convention centre, a yoga centre, green spaces, renovation of historic areas and residences for widows and ascetics.

The project will be undertaken through a public-private partnership, with the bid document outlining the final terms expected to be ready within the next one or two months. Initially, the 6.9-kilometre expressway will have four lanes, with plans for expansion to six lanes in the future.

In phase 1, Yeida aims to develop 753 acre of the total land at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. This phase will focus on restoring natural water bodies, among other tasks. Measures will be taken to revive and protect the river, canal, ponds and wetlands, with a 30-metre buffer zone planned around the water bodies. To facilitate access to the Heritage City, land acquisition from 12 villages situated between the Yamuna Expressway and the Yamuna River will be necessary. The Public Works Department (PWD) will construct an additional bridge across the Yamuna to enhance connectivity, enabling visitors to conveniently park their vehicles and access key temples within the Heritage City.
