Yeida to acquire additional 1,200 hectare for Noida airport expansion

October 31, 2023: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) is expected to initiate the process of acquiring an additional 1,200 hectare of land for the expansion of the upcoming Noida International Airport by the end of this year. The additional land will be acquired from six villages falling near the Aligarh district border, officials said, as mentioned in a Moneycontrol report. The report cited an official stating that the six villages – Mangaroli, Bhabokra, Deorar, Sadullapur, Ahmadpur Choroli and Alabalpur – are located between the Jewar airport area and the proposed logistics park.

The Uttar Pradesh government recently approved the further expansion of the airport and the aviation hub. According to a Hindustan Times report, Yeida has already acquired 814 hectare of land out of the total 1,365 hectare required for this project. The authority distributed Rs 2,800 crore in compensation out of Rs 3,900 crore for the acquired land.

 

Manufacturing companies to come up near Jewar airport

The state government has planned the Noida airport as a major hub for airline operations, cargo transfers and MRO services. The expansion of the aviation hub is expected to attract international companies engaged in manufacturing aeroplane spare parts.

 

Airport to be spread across 7,754 hectare

The upcoming airport will have an area of 6,554 hectare. However, after the inclusion of additional 1,200 hectare, the total area will be 7,754 hectare. Around 4,752 hectare of the initial 6,554 hectares of the land is being acquired under four phases:

The Noida International Airport is expected to start operations in September 2024.
