Yeida to spend Rs 52 cr to develop 24 smart villages

Delhi L-G launches Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan to develop urbanised villages

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) is set to convert 24 villages in its notified area into ‘smart villages’. In the first phase of this project, the Yeida has already acquired the land from farmers in 29 villages. Of these 29 villages, 24 have been tendered for development. The Yamuna Authority is planning to spend more than Rs 52 crore on this project.

The smart villages are set to develop like urban sectors with amenities like sewage, roads, drainage, electricity, drinking water and optical fibre for cable and telephone connectivity. At present, these villages do not have any drinking water or drainage facilities. The inhabitants rely on groundwater for daily needs, and sewage is mostly dumped in open spaces.

The work has already been completed in two villages- Nilauni and Rampur Bangar. The tender process for the development of Mirzapur, Dugarpur, Rilkha, Achheja Burjug, Salarpur, Rustampur, Moojikheda, Chapardhgarh, Muradgarhi and Gunpura villages has been completed. Apart from these, action is being initiated to carry out development work in Achepur, Pachokra, Chandpur, Usmanpur, Fatehpur Atta, Chakveerampur, Chak Jalalabad, Dhanori, Parsaul, Rabupura, Kadarpur and Bhatta villages in the coming year.
