Madanpur Khadar is a small town in Delhi's southeast. The village, located on the border between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, is almost 800 years old and was given its current name in honor of Thakur Madan Singh Chauhan. Khadar is part of the name of this village because it is located near the Yamuna River. In 1966, city officials under the Delhi Metropolitan Council designated the area as an urban village. The settlement of Madanpur Khadar was founded by Thakur Madan Singh Chauhan 800 years ago and still bears his name. Members of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan's army, his predecessors, were fierce fighters. Around 600 years ago, some of Thakur Madan Singh's relatives fled the village and eventually settled in the cities of Garh Ganga and Haridwar.
