Kalimpong is a leading municipality cum town within the State of West Bengal. It lies at 1,250 meters and is the headquarters for the District of Kalimpong as well. The town is also within the GTA (Gorkhaland Territorial Administration) and hosts the 27 Mountain Division of the Indian Army as well. Kalimpong is famous for its reputed educational institutions, with many of them being set up during the colonial rule of the British. The town overlooks the beautiful Teesta River while being a huge tourist landmark on account of its natural beauty, mountains, climate and horticulture. It has a famous flower market as well while the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Buddhist Monastery is also worth visiting.
