On Delhi's fringe toward the southwest is Aya Nagar. On the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road, which connects South Delhi with the fast urbanising metropolis of Gurgaon in the neighbouring state of Haryana, it is the final village in Delhi. Despite being a part of Delhi's rural fringe, Aya Nagar is now home to close to 100,000 people, half of whom are low-income migrants from all across India and the other half are the original rural residents. In Aya Nagar, onsite sanitation facilities are used by 99% of the population. In Aya Nagar, only 7% of the waste is managed safely, leaving 93% to be handled in a dangerous manner. The Centre for Science and Environment India developed this SFD Light Report (CSE).
