Rajpur Sonarpur is a major city and a dedicated municipality of the District of South Parganas in the State of West Bengal. The area is also within the KMDA (Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority). Rajpur and Sonarpur are two towns governed by the same authority. The twin towns have been merged under the municipality. The coordinates of the area are 22.4473° N, 88.3920° E. The total area covered by the municipality is 49.26 square kilometres.
