Towards its east is Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Goregaon West in the south, and Kandivali East in the north. Triveni Nagar, Mira Nagar, and Kokanipada are a few nearby localities. Malad is well connected to the rest of the city through the Malad Railway Station on the Western Line and the Western Expressway. Mumbai International Airport is approximately 10 km away. Also, the proposed Malad Metro Station on Line 2, tentatively scheduled to open in 2020, is expected to improve the area's connectivity and increase residential demand in the locality. The approximate population is around 946,000, with an additional daily floating population of 100,000. Malad as a whole (East and West area) falls under the P-North ward, which is the most populous ward in the city as per the 2011 census.
