Kinnaur is one of the main administrative districts within the State of Himachal Pradesh. It is sub-divided into three zones with six Tehsils in total. It has its headquarters at Reckong Peo. The Kinnaur Kailash peak is located within the district. Kinnaur is roughly 235 km away from Shimla and lies in the north-eastern part of the State, with Tibet on its eastern border. Kinnaur is one of the biggest tourist landmarks in the country and boasts of breathtaking natural beauty and landscapes. The total area covered by Kinnaur is 6,401 square kilometers while the total population stood at 84,121 people as of the year 2011. The coordinates of Kinnaur are 31.6510° N, 78.4752° E.
