Jhalawar is a leading city in Rajasthan and lies within the south-eastern part of the State, being the former capital of the Jhalawar princely State. It is also the administrative headquarters of the District of Jhalawar. It was also called Brijnagar earlier. It was founded by Jhala Zalim Singh who was once the Dewan of the State of Kota in 1791 AD. It has its own Nagar Parishad today and the population stood at 66,919 people as of the year 2011.
