Dahod is a leading city in the Dahod District of Gujarat. It lies on the banks of the River Dudhimati. Dahod gets the name from the Saint named Dadhichi. The city is the headquarters of the district and lies approximately 241 km away from Ahmedabad. It is also called Dohad or two boundaries, signifying the borders with Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Aurangzeb, the Mughal Emperor, was born here in 1618 at the time of Jahangir’s rule. Tantia Tope, the great freedom fighter, reportedly spent his last few days in this area. Dahod became an independent district in 2006. The total area is 14 square kilometres while the population was 2,127,086 in 2011. The coordinates of Dahod are 22.8345° N, 74.2606° E.
