Types of TS Ration Card

Ration cards from Telangana State (TS) are divided into three categories, as shown below.

APL (Above Poverty Line Ration) Cards:

Telangana APL Cards are only available to those with a yearly income of more than Rs. 10,000. This privileged card may or may not be able to be used to purchase rations. Although in TS, APL ration cards are frequently used as an identity card or as proof of address.

 

BPL (Below Poverty Line) Cards:

Families with BPL cards are those who fall below the state government’s poverty limit.

BPL families receive 10 to 20 kg of food grains every month at half the cost of the market price. State-by-state, the subsidised final retail price for specified quantities of wheat, rice, sugar, and other goods varies. The tariffs per quantity are set by each state government.

 

Ration Card AY:

This Ration Card is reserved solely for senior citizens. The government provides 10 kilograms of grain. Antyodaya Ration Cards are exclusively distributed to households with a low or no consistent income. Only people aged 65 and up are eligible for this yellow card.

 

AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Cards:

These cards are given to underprivileged and malnourished families identified by the government. Unemployed people, senior citizens, and women can avail the benefits of this card. The salient benefits of this card includes receiving 35kg of food grain per month per family.

TS Meeseva portal

This portal has been devised to make several long-drawn government functions easier. 

Candidates could be willing to check their ration cards either district-wise/village-wise in Telangana. They could follow the steps mentioned below. 

 

Online applications via Meeseva portal

The TS Meeseva portal is for applicants who can apply online for the ration card. The requirements are simple – a working internet connection with a PC laptop or desktop. You simply need to visit the Meeseva website and then create an account on the Meeseva portal. Subsequently, submit the online application form for a ration card, and you can even go for other services like change name on the card, correct name, and many such options on the Meeseva portal. 

Offline application 

If you don’t wish to take the easier path, you need to collect all the necessary documents and visit the nearest food and civil supplies’ office. There, you can take the application form and fill it, attach the documents you brought alongside, and submit it. It is that simple!

Issuance of ration card 

Applicants need to submit their application for the ration card. The procedure is quite thorough and the authorities follow a detailed process that takes about 30 days for the issuance of a ration card for each applicant.

December 28, 2023

Telangana to issue ration cards from December 28,2023  to January 6, 2024

Under the Praja Palana in Telangana, the state government will issue ration cards to the poor from December 28, 2023 to January 6, 2024. With this, they can get access to food products at a lesser cost.  These ration cards will help in the implementation of six guarantees. Along with these applications, applications for new ration cards will also be accepted. People with ration cards can add additional names to their card. The documents required for collecting the ration card is Aadhaar card and voter card of all family members. The ration card will be issued based on the locality.
