Godrej Garden City becomes largest township to receive IGBC Platinum certificate

Godrej Properties Limited (GPL) has announced that its township project in Ahmedabad, Godrej Garden City has received the Indian Green Building Council-Green Residential Society (IGBC-GRS) Platinum certification. The IGBC-GRS Platinum certification is recognised as the highest rating for residential societies. With this achievement, Godrej Garden City becomes the largest township in India to be GRS Platinum certified.

Garden City is located off SG Highway in Ahmedabad, and is within Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) limits. The project is currently home to over 1,500 families and has a fully-functional international school, a city square retail facility, a 70,000-sq-ft club house, as well as facilities for healthcare, recreation, hospitality and banking. The master plan for the project was created by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), who have also designed the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Acknowledging the award, Pirojsha Godrej, executive chairman, Godrej Properties, said, “We are very pleased to have received the IGBC GRS Platinum certification for Godrej Garden City. Sustainability is a key pillar of our company’s vision and we remain committed to deliver more such milestones.”

Godrej Garden City was selected as one of 17 projects from around the world by the Clinton Foundation, to partner the Clinton Climate Initiative. It also won the ‘Excellence in Green Township Development’ award at the Ahmedabad Entrepreneur and Excellence Awards 2017 and the ‘Township Project of the Year’ award at the Asian Customer Engagement Forum (ACEF) Property awards, 2016, among many others.
