What is the rebate in Gujarat stamp duty 2025 for women homebuyers?

Stamp duty on property in Gujarat for female and male are the same. There is no rebate for female on stamp duty but they are exempted from paying registration charges.

Now, let us see how to calculate the overall cost of the property. Suppose, Anand Patel and Vidushiben Parikh are buying similar properties at the same price (i.e., Rs 86.75 lakh). Let us see how much stamp duty in Gujarat for residential property each of them has to pay.

Both Patel and Parikh will pay Rs 4,25,075 as stamp duty. However, at the registration stage, Patel will need to pay 1%, that is Rs 86,750.

Rs 86,75,000 x  1/100 = Rs 86,750

Rs 86,75,000 + 4,25,075 + 86,750 = Rs 91,86,825

In the case of Parikh, only stamp duty charges will apply, since women are exempt from registration charges and therefore, her overall cost comes to Rs 91,00,075.

How to apply for stamp duty refund in Gujarat?

For getting a refund for a spoiled or erroneously used stamp from the Superintendent of Stamp Office, Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad, an application must be made in the specified form. The specimen application form can be found on the Gujarat Stamp Duty and Registration website. Along with the application, the spoiled or erroneously used stamp must be submitted.

To obtain a refund, the description of the stamp, the number of stamps, the rate of the stamp, the date of purchase of the stamp, the date of spoiling of the stamp, and the reasons for its spoiling must be provided. As per Section 52-C of the Gujarat Stamps Act, 1958, a time limit is specified. Accordingly, the application for a stamp refund must be made within six months from the date of purchase.
