Maharashtra govt approves Pune Metro Phase-2 extensions

March 13, 2024: Pune Metro Aqua Line that started complete operations on March 6, 2024 from Vanaz to Ramwadi has received approval from the Maharashtra state cabinet for extensions at both ends: Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi on March 11, 2024.

Together, the extensions will cover 12.75 km and will include 13 stations. The estimated cost for this project is Rs 3756.58 crore, mentioned a post by the official handle of Pune Metro on micro-blogging website X.

A detailed project report (DPR) which was first submitted to the Pune Municipal Corporation was later forwarded to the state government for approval, added the post on X by Pune Metro.

Vanaz to Chandni Chowk extension

The Vanaz to Chandni Chowk extension spans 1.12 KM and will have two stations

 

Ramwadi to Wagholi extension

The Ramwadi to Wagholi stretch spanning 11.36 km, will have 11 elevated stations

As per the post on X, the managing director of MahaMetro2, said, “This is a natural extension for the Vanaz to Ramwadi line, which has been approved by the Government Of Maharashtra. This approval will expedite the implementation of these lines, providing significant benefits to the residents along Nagar Road. Moreover, it will enhance accessibility for IT companies, financial institutions, schools, and colleges situated along the Ramwadi to Wagholi stretch, thereby alleviating congestion on the crowded Nagar Road. Similarly, the Vanaz to Chandni Chowk extension will help the residents and offices in the area.”
