MahaRERA to train 39,000 real estate agents

39,000 real estate agents in Maharashtra will be trained as part of batch 1 so that they will be able to provide better services to home buyers. This is in line with the MahaRERA notification issued on January 20, 2023, which made it mandatory for agents to get ‘Certificate of Competency’. The first batch of the training started on February 15, 2023.

“MahaRERA plans to complete the training by September 2023,” said Sanjay Deshmukh, nodal officer to the media.  Being the middlemen between buyers and sellers of properties, agents are expected to guide both parties in the right direction. Four agencies are responsible for imparting the training including National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), added Deshmukh.

Additionally, agents are also asked to file their income tax returns that will help check the source of their funds.
