NCLT rules in favour of Salman Khan over commercial property lease dispute

Govt not owner of enemy properties; can’t seek exemption from paying taxes: SC

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has refused to issue a restraining order from terminating the lease of a 27,000-sqft commercial property lease owned by actor Salman Khan.

Located in Santacruz (West), the property spans to 4 floors. Khan had leased his commercial property to Foodhall, a subsidiary of Future Retail Limited-TNSI Retail Private Limited. Future Retail has now gone into insolvency.

The appeal was filed by Koinonia Coffee after the actor wanted to terminate an agreement effective April 30, 2023. Koinonia Coffee runs coffee shops in Foodhall and is also owned by the same subsidiary.
